There are lots of good reasons to come to this corner of Dorset - follow the links below to find out more. Swanage is a coastal town with a population of some 10,000 inhabitants which grows considerably during the summer season. It lies at the eastern edge of the peninsular with a wide bay ideal for safe bathing - it has recently been improved with new groynes and a beach restoration project. The bay has been awarded European Blue Flag status regularly and the town gained a Silver award for Britain in Bloom 2006.
